Stornoway announce UK headline tour for 2024

The long-awaited release of Stornoway’s kaleidoscopic fourth album ‘Dig The Mountain!’ has seen the indie-folk sonic adventurers reconnect with existing fans while also introducing their beguiling sound to newcomers. Emerging to critical acclaim, the album earned a wave of official UK Top 10 chart positions upon release: Album Sales (#7), Physical Albums (#7), Record Store (#6) and Independent Albums (#5). Now embarking upon their first full UK and Ireland headline tour in six years, strong demand has seen several Stornoway shows sell-out in advance – leading to the confirmation of a new headline tour which will take place next February.

Vocalist/guitarist Brian Briggs says, “We are having such a blast performing together again and despite the long break it feels like the connection with our audiences is stronger than ever. We can’t wait to head out to these other wonderful corners of England that we couldn’t get to on this tour and enjoy playing some new tunes and plenty of Stornoway classics, plus a bit of birdwatching en route as well of course!”

Tickets for the tour, dates listed below, will go on general sale HERE at 10am this Friday, October 27th.

The engaging, celebratory feel of the band’s shows has been a major part of their current resurgence. First up was a secret, fan-only show at EartH Theatre, which mixed fan favourites such as ‘Zorbing’, ‘Farewell Appalachia’ and their surprise viral take on Yazz’s ‘The Only Way Is Up’ alongside some brand new songs. Subsequent highlights have included a second stage headline set at the Cambridge Folk Festival, outdoor gigs with Del Amitri, a series of Unplucked acoustic shows including The Gower, and an intimate record store tour. They’ve also recorded some memorable radio sessions, first for Riley & Coe at 6 Music and most recently for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show.

Stornoway’s current headline tour is also underway, having already called at Exeter and Oxford for sold-out shows. It continues with the following dates, and tickets remain available HERE for some shows. All dates feature special guest Yijia Tu, who the band collaborated with on their inventive twist on Björk’s ‘It’s Not Up To You’.
