Grab a stein of cold lager and raise it to the sky before you dig into Honest Burgers’ latest German treat for October. Inspired by co-founder Tom and Head of Food Adam’s trips to Munich over the years, the special is a decadent celebration of everyone’s favourite beer-drinking and lederhosen-wearing festival!
The SMASHTOBERFEST burger is a fresh new smashed twist on the Oktoberfest burger, which was last available in 2018. A huge fan favourite, the Oktoberfest special would often shoot to #1 when Honest asked fans which burgers should make a return to the menu. It is the second SMASHED by Honest special by the restaurant and an exciting follow-up to 2023’s best-selling CALIFORNIA special.
The burger is a build of double-smashed beef patties, Bavarian smoked cheese, shoestring fries, pickles, and onions, pulled together with Honest’s rich homemade currywurst mayo (a nod to Berlin’s favourite street food). This is the perfect burger to fill your stomach and wash down with a glass of beer.
Adam Layton, Honest Burgers, Head of Food, said: “This is a SMASHED take on our classic OKTOBERFEST special: this time distilling it down to our two favourite German ingredients: Bavarian smoked cheese and homemade currywurst mayo (ketchup, curry spices, paprika and mayo). Real Bavarian cheese makes this burger extra special: it melts just like American cheese but is packed with flavour as it’s made from Emmental cheese and smoked butter. Even more delicious with a big cold beer. Prost!”
To get diners even more into the Oktoberfest mood, 25 restaurants with draught beer will be offering traditional 2-pint steins of Brooklyn Pilsner for just £10!
The Smashtoberfest Burger will be available at all 40 Honest Burgers’ restaurants and via Uber Eats or click & collect from the 3rd October – 30th October.
The burger is priced at £14.80, served with homemade rosemary salted chips for dine-ins and collection or £15.90 with a side when ordered via Uber Eats.
