ARU is the largest provider of nursing degree courses in the East of England and is looking to attract students with a caring and compassionate nature, who are interested in a pursuing a rewarding career in the nursing sector.
Louise Jenkins, Head of School for Nursing and Midwifery, Anglia Ruskin University, is excited to welcome prospective students for a January start. She said: “At ARU, we are always on the lookout for people who are committed to making a difference. Having our nursing degree courses start in January as well as September offers people the opportunity and flexibility to start their studies at different times of the year.”
ARU benefits from high-tech training facilities and offers skills labs that simulate real hospital wards, which include AI-aided mannequins and first-rate lecture theatres.
Matt Pearson, 37 started studying adult nursing at ARU at the start of January, he’s very glad he swapped his role in the care sector for a chance to train as a nurse. He says: “At 17 I knew I wanted to be a nurse, but never thought I’d be clever enough to do it. When I got the offer of a place at ARU I was completely overwhelmed, it was just the best news. They asked if I’d like to start in January, or the following September, but I’d waited for what seemed forever, so handed in my notice to my employer and started January 2023.”
He continued: “The course is everything I’ve ever dreamt of, I love doing what I do, it’s such a rewarding career.”
The Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing three-year degree courses, starting in January at ARU’s Chelmsford campus will consist of a range of hybrid learning in lectures and workshops, plus on-campus training in skills labs. As well as theoretical and practical training at ARU, all students will undertake a wide range of placements in the region’s NHS and private hospitals, as well as community settings.
