Being so close to London, we here in Essex are often the first to know about new London trends that are spreading outward. Whether it’s fashion, technology, or even health and wellness, Essex seems to be the first port of call for every big development: if it works here, it’ll work anywhere.
With this in mind, we’re going to be a bit proactive and look into the trends that look set to be coming our way. Specifically, health and wellness trends.
Every year, there seem to be dozens of new health and wellness trends that take off in the city, changing the way we live, breathe, sleep, and interact with each other. To find out which ones might be heading to Essex, we’ve compiled a list of the three most significant in 2023 and how they’re changing the game.
Easy Erections
London is a city of sex. According to a recent survey, around 8% of people in London are having sex every day, and that amounts to nearly 1 million people. But that’s not to say it’s all glamorous. While a lot of people in London might be having sex, that doesn’t mean they’re having good sex.
Recent figures have shown that nearly 50% of all men in the UK suffer from erectile dysfunction, and this has led to the “penis filler trend”. For those unaware, penis enlargement in London has seen a huge surge throughout 2022 and 2023, not least due to their ability to strengthen erections, help men last longer, and subsequently increase libido and mental health.
It may seem a little out there, but we think this is a trend that will get just as big – pardon the pun – in Essex and is likely to take over the world in the next few years.
Mini Meditations
Speaking of mental health, London is one of the world leaders when it comes to mental health innovations. One of the latest that seems to be making the rounds is known as “mini meditations”, which involves slipping into 60 second and 30 second “mirror mantras”.
A mirror mantra involves talking to yourself in front of the mirror, telling yourself to be the best version of who you are, and attempting to shift your mindset toward positivity and personal growth. Along with this, Londoners are enjoying “12 in 12” meditations, where they take 60 seconds, 12 times a day, to stand still, focus on their breathing, and re-centre their focus.
With the world moving faster than ever, and everything from the cost-of-living crisis to climate change creating stresses in our lives, we think this is a trend that will definitely catch on, as it gives people with busy schedules the opportunity to calm their minds.
Sleep Syncing
Last on our list is a trend known as “sleep syncing”. While New York is known as the city that never sleeps, London also has a bit of an issue catching some shut-eye. The city is constantly buzzing, which makes it difficult for people to switch off their mind and get some much-needed rest.
Wearable technology for sleeping, however, has allowed people to align their circadian rhythm with their daily schedule, telling them exactly when they should sleep, and how long for. It also tells them when to take a breath and reconfigure their minds.
With insomnia a big problem in London and the rest of the UK, sleep syncing is a trend that is already starting to spread, as more and more people realise how significant technology might be to innovation in mental health and wellbeing.
