One of the planet’s biggest selling dance acts Groove Armada will bring the British Flat racing season to a close when they headline the after-party at this year’s QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 21st October.

The electronic music duo, made up of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, have achieved huge chart success in Great Britain with hit singles such as ‘Superstylin’, ‘At the River’ and ‘I See You Baby’.

They will bring the curtain down on Frankie Dettori’s illustrious riding career in Great Britain, with this the Hall of Fame jockey’s final raceday in the Europe. Tickets for the King Edward VII enclosure at Ascot Racecourse for Saturday 21st October are now sold out in anticipation of this unique sporting occasion, with the Winning Post enclosure also close to selling out.

Groove Armada follow in the footsteps of the likes of George Ezra, Basement Jaxx, Ella Eyre and Jax Jones in being the centrepiece of QIPCO British Champions Day’s post-racing celebrations.

Cato and Findlay met in London in the mid-1990s and originally Groove Armada started as a series of nights across London. They created their first album, ‘Northern Star’, in 1998 in the space of a week and this contained the downbeat anthem ‘At The River’. They began to receive major label recognition and their first album with Jive Records, ‘Vertigo’, sold over a million copies.

Four albums later and in partnership with big record labels such as Sony and BMG, they have received several Grammy and Brit nominations and have sold out gigs from Jakarta to Moscow and Sydney. The duo take control of every individual aspect of their gigs, from the visuals and lasers, to the sound and lighting, delivering an incredible house, warehouse vibe that stems from Cato and Findlay’s roots.

Both Cato and Findlay, together as Groove Armada and also individually, have taken part in Late Night Tales, one of the most-renowned artist-curated compilations series of all time that invites the world’s best artists to delve deep into their music collections to create the ultimate “late night” selection.

QIPCO British Champions Day is the richest raceday in Great Britain with more than £4 million in prize money up for grabs. It is the ultimate raceday, where the world’s best human and equine racing talent compete at the finale to the British Flat racing season.

Aside from Dettori’s European swansong, there will be a whole host of activity at Ascot on the day, including a Fan Zone area for families and children, where there will be a Jockey School with masterclasses from leading jockeys such as Hollie Doyle, Tom Marquand and Oisin Murphy. While there will also be several presentations to mark the end of the British Flat racing season, among them the likes of the Champion Flat Jockey and two inductions into the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame.
