The team from Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Tilbury has made a £1,000 donation to an Essex scout group.
Chadwell St Mary Scouts, a sub-section of Thurrock Scouts, works to prepare young people for adulthood by teaching them life skills and encouraging them to do more, learn more and be more.
The donation from Amazon in Tilbury will go towards an adventure activity day for all the scouts, some new camping equipment and a camping trip later in the year.
Speaking on the donation, Ruzanna Sargsyan, General Manager at Amazon in Tilbury, said:
“We’re pleased to support the volunteers, leaders and scouts at Chadwell St Mary Scouts with this donation. Chadwell St Mary Scouts is an asset to our local community, boosting confidence and skills in young people from an early age, so we hope this support allows the group to continue having fun and learning together.”
Dalia Aleksandraviciute, an employee from Amazon in Tilbury who nominated the scout group for support, said:
“My son attends Chadwell St Mary Scouts and is thriving in the environment. The opportunities scouting provides for children are invaluable, and it’s great to see this support from Amazon.”
Ian Spurgeon, Scout Leader at Chadwell St Mary Scouts, added:
“Thank you to Ruzanna and the Tilbury Amazon team for this donation. Scouting provides young people with skills for life, giving them opportunities to make friends and try new things whilst making memories that will last a lifetime. This donation will help us to continue offering these experiences to young people in Thurrock.”
The donation to Chadwell St Mary Scouts was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK.
