Basildon Council has launched a fully funded support service and business grant scheme to help local businesses safeguard their future and grow successfully.
The programme is supported by regional business support specialists, Colbea, and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Basildon Council has appointed Colbea to provide a wide range of advice and support to local businesses for a period of two years.
Colbea is a not-for-profit organisation, supporting local businesses through fully funded tailored advice, training courses and workshops. The programme also includes a grant scheme where local businesses can apply for funding of up to £2,000, aiding the growth and expansion of many businesses throughout the borough.
Colbea will work with businesses in Basildon to build a programme of support tailored to the organisation’s needs. Support can cover a range of topics and areas of business development, including finance, human resources, technical infrastructure and plans for growth.
Cllr Anthony Hedley, Cabinet Member for Business Engagement, Skills and Procurement Oversight, welcomed the announcement: “Basildon has a thriving business scene and small businesses are at the very heart of our local economy. It’s an incredibly challenging time for business owners, with a number of factors putting additional pressure on organisations that provide jobs, goods and services for local people. This new initiative sets out a wide range of support – giving businesses the tools they need in order to grow and safeguard their future.”
Colbea’s Chief Executive, Simon Mead said, “We are extremely pleased to embed this flagship support programme within the heart of the Basildon’s business community as it’s imperative that businesses receive the support they need. By providing access to tailored advice and funding opportunities, it will really enhance the way in which businesses across the area are able to operate. We look forward to working in partnership with Basildon Council to help their businesses thrive.”
