A woman from Essex has won a nationwide lastminute.com photography competition, looking for the UK’s best travel shots.
The travel tech leader launched the search for the best photos from around the world as part of the brand’s 25th anniversary celebrations. 25 winners, including Megan Killick, were selected for the display which will be on the London Eye pods.
She will receive a £250 voucher from the company to fund future travels, as well as a ticket to the London Eye to see her image on display.
Megan, whose picture was taken in Bali, said:
“In 2022, after 9 happy years together, (my partner and I) decided to take the plunge and move to Australia to have a 3 year adventure. We popped over to Bali for a little week long trip where we found the most beautiful romantic little spot, the rice terrace.
“I’ve used lastminute.com many times for European city breaks so I thought I might chance the competition. London reminds me of day trips with my Nan, going to museums and sightseeing so I couldn’t believe it when I found out my Bali swing moment was going to make it up inside the London Eye!”
With more than 1000 entries from across the UK, the most popular theme for images was time spent with family and friends, with the second theme being special occasions and romantic moments, such as proposals (40%). Nearly 4 in 10 images were of beautiful natural wonders, such as beaches and sunsets. Paris was the most photographed location within the entries outside of London.
