George Bejko-Cowlbeck, co-owner of Caddies on London Road, has been appointed Chair of the Southend City Business Improvement District (BID).
George takes over from Mark Bartrip, franchisee of both McDonald’s premises on the High Street, who stepped down as Chair on the 30th June but will remain as a Director on the board.
George opened Caddies in 2018, with the offer starting out as crazy golf with quirky cocktails and street food but now includes shuffleboards, a live comedy club and more. George has been an active member of Southend City BID since Caddies opened and joined as a Committee Member in 2019 and a Director in August 2020.
George Bejko-Cowlbeck says “The services that have continued to be delivered for businesses since Southend City BID formed in 2013 is incredible. It is a privilege to take over the helm of the organisation from Mark and help support businesses in the challenging times ahead through proactive partnership working alongside projects including the Christmas Switch On Event, our Street Ranger team and public realm enhancements.”
Rebecca Gosain, Manager of New Look and BID Committee Member, adds “Mark has led the BID through a difficult couple of years as the world ventured out of the height of the pandemic to a new landscape of rising costs. I’m pleased George will be continuing Mark’s good work as new Chair of Southend City BID for the benefit of the city, businesses, and local residents.”
