The winner of a local NHS poster competition has been announced as Esmae Emin-Wyatt, age 10, from Thundersley Primary School in Benfleet.
The competition was part of a wider campaign called ‘Do Your Bit Essex’ that called on the public to help the local NHS by taking action to keep themselves well during the winter months.
The poster competition was open to all children in primary school classes in Essex.
Entrants were invited to have fun, get creative and design a poster to explain how people can do their bit this winter to look after themselves and others by getting a flu or COVID-19 vaccine, washing their hands or checking in on their neighbours regularly.
The judges in the competition were looking for creativity and visual appeal, as well as demonstration that the entrant had understood the main principles of how you can #DoYourBit for the NHS this winter.
Dr Sarah Zaidi, local GP from Southend said: “The competition was a massive success, we saw plenty of fantastic, creative and imaginative entries from across the local area. Lots of fantastic entries were provided but Esmae’s poster stood out above the rest.
“I would like to congratulate our winner, Esmae, for creating a wonderful poster that really captured the essence of what we were looking for within the campaign.
“She can be really proud of her efforts, as can every single child that provided a poster to be considered”.
Esmae’s winning poster will be used as part of this year’s #DoYourBitEssex campaign.
