Go Ape Launches New Hylands Park Location in Chelmsford

On Saturday 29th July Go Ape will launch their brand-new Chelmsford location and open their forest doors to the public in Hylands Park, Essex. This will be the 35th Go Ape location in the UK and the first in Essex.

Each Go Ape adventure is designed to challenge and excite thrill-seekers and there’s an activity for everyone no matter their age. From tree top high-ropes adventures to teambuilding ground-based games, Go Ape are on a mission to get everyone living life more adventurously.

The new site includes three high-ropes adventures suitable for participants over 1m tall. These will be Go Ape’s: Treetop Challenge, Treetop Adventure Plus and Treetop Adventure. There will be 100 aerial crossings, 8 ziplines and a Tarzan Swing on the Treetop Challenge experience. All the courses will use a continuous belay system, a simple and transfer-free safety system, which allows participants to remain attached until they return to the ground. These high-ropes courses will be located in the woodlands at the Writtle Entrance side of the park, close to the main car park.

Go Ape Chelmsford Site Manager, Deaglan Flynn, said, “Coming from London, Hylands Park almost seems like the next level up, it’s such a beautiful location. Chelmsford will be a very aerial course, with tree-to-tree zips and tricky crossings which customers will love. It’s quite big with eight separate loops of increasingly difficult obstacles and super-long zips to bring them back to the ground.

The high ropes courses will use our continuous safety system, meaning that it is easy to operate for both younger and more mature explorers. Plus, there is a new “low loop” designed to give younger thrill-seekers the opportunity to grow into their adventure. Equally, there is a big Tarzan Swing with a great drop on the Treetop Challenge course.

The Hylands Park team are also very positive about Go Ape’s vision. There’s lots of open fields and recreational things to do in the park and Go Ape will only add to it. Their award-winning accessible play park even has a wheelchair-accessible climbing frame, which is very rare. Anyone, no matter
their ability, can access the full playground.”

Go Ape Construction Team Member, Kyle Russon, said, “Our Go Ape sites are based in so many wonderful woodlands, and Hylands Park is a great addition!
Adventurers will get to fly through the air on tree-to-tree zip lines, and plenty of challenging crossings for all our customers to enjoy. One thing you will see a lot of at Hylands Park are Fisherman’s Traps, wooden towers that you climb up the inside of on staggered platforms to reach the tree tops. These create a fun way for customers to access the courses, before they even start clambering through the trees and zip back to the ground!”
