Bellway has helped raise money for a hospice in Essex after sponsoring two holes at a charity golf day.

The homebuilder’s Strategic Land team provided the sponsorship at Epping Rotary Club’s annual charity golf day at Saffron Walden Golf Club, to help raise funds for St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood.

At the 18th – one of the holes Bellway sponsored – visitors had the chance to take on professional golfer Callum Brookes for £5 each. The proceeds also went to the hospice.

Overall, the fundraiser secured a total of £16,152.50 for the hospice, which supports hundreds of people in West Essex and East Hertfordshire, who are affected by life-limiting illnesses every year.

Ellie Gale, Relationship Fundraising Manager for St Clare Hospice, said: “We are so grateful to Bellway for sponsoring the Rotary Club of Epping Annual Golf Day in aid of St Clare Hospice.

“We simply couldn’t do what we do, and care for families on one of life’s hardest journeys, without the support of businesses like Bellway.

“Their support really will change the lives of local people and their loved ones, as £16,000 could cover the cost of running our Hospice at Home team for a whole week. We thank them on behalf of all those whom their fundraising efforts will care for.”

Ben Stacey, Bellway Strategic Land Director (South), said: “We were keen to help St Clare Hospice and help raise money to fund the indispensable support they provide to people with life-limiting illnesses in the area.

“It is fantastic to hear that our sponsorship played a part in helping the Rotary Club of Epping raise more than £15,000 to enable the hospice to continue its amazing work.”
