Residents invited to have a say on parking and traffic proposals in Harlow

0

Consultation is currently taking place on 10 new traffic regulation orders in Harlow which aim to curb nuisance parking and increase vehicle and pedestrian safety.

Most of the orders are being proposed to reduce problem parking in a number of areas across Harlow and increase vehicle and pedestrian safety by preventing parking in areas where it is unsafe. Others are aimed at improving parking or access for goods vehicles or stopping heavy good vehicles parking in residential areas.

The proposals aim to respond to concerns from residents and businesses but are open to full consultation before being taken forward.

The regulations, which are being proposed by the North Essex Parking Partnership on behalf of Harlow Council, cover a range of areas. There are 10 schemes currently being proposed:

To introduce a ‘Controlled Parking Zone No Waiting at Any Time for Heavy Goods Vehicles over 3.5t’ covering Deer Park, Greygoose Park, Pollard Hatch, Fir Park, Paycock Road, Rosemount, Sovereign Court and Kingsmoor Road.
Double yellow lines at the Latton Common Road, Clover Field, and Clifton Hatch junctions on Trotters Road, on Standingford, and at the Commonside Road and Berecroft junction.
To extend and introduce double yellow lines at the junction of Ployters Road and Moorfields.
A ‘Goods Vehicle Loading Only 8am-6pm’ bay at Maunds Hatch.
A ‘Limited Waiting 7am-10pm 1hr No Return within 1hr’ bay on Spring Hills.
Remove part of the double yellow lines outside No. 14 Burnt Mill Industrial Estate.
Replace the red route on the west side of Tripton Road outside St Marks West Essex Catholic School with two ‘No Stopping Mon-Fri 8am-4pam on Entrance Markings’ areas.
To introduce resident permit holder bays (Mon-Sat 8am-6pm) on the southeast side of Hodings Road, northeast of the Park Mead junction and southwest of the Hamstel Road junction.
To introduce resident permit holder bays (Mon-Sat 8am-8pm) on the east side of The Hornbeams, north of the Hodings Road junction.
To revoke the ‘No Waiting 7am-7pm’ restriction in a short section of Edinburgh Place, introduce a ‘No Waiting 7am-7pm’ restriction near to the Hill Metal recycling site, and a ‘Goods Vehicle Loading Only 7am-7pm’ bay to the rear of Mill Hatch.

Consultation closes on 23 June.

Councillor Nicky Purse, cabinet portfolio holder for sustainability and environment, said:

“These proposed changes to the traffic regulation orders are important steps in improving road safety for drivers and pedestrians, as well as helping to improve residential and business areas.

“However, we need to hear from residents and businesses to ensure that their voices are heard on these matters – they of course live and work in these areas and their experiences and views need to be considered so that the right choices for all are made.”

Anyone wishing to object to the proposed orders should send in their grounds for objection in writing either at https://nepp.essexworkstraffweb.org.uk/consult/main.html or to TRO Comments, North Essex Parking Partnership, PO Box 5575, Colchester, CO1 9LT by 23 June 2023.
