Puddle Ducks Chelmsford and North East London proved recently that they provide much more than just swimming lessons, when they met families from the local area to highlight the importance of water safety.
Attending the Essex Young Farmers Show earlier in the month, the swim school were keen to connect with families especially at a time of year when children generally spend more time around water, whether on holiday or with paddling pools at home.
In the UK, most deaths by drowning occur in the three summer months, with July being the worst. It’s also among the 10 leading causes of death for children, making raising awareness of water safety imperative for Puddle Ducks.
Owner of Puddle Ducks Chelmsford and North East London, Maria Gray commented: “We were delighted to attend the show, it’s one of the biggest highlights of the year in the local area and has been running for over 30 years so it’s important to us to show our support and get out and meet people within our community to highlight the importance of swimming as a life saving skill. The day was a lot of fun too, we ran a competition, played hook a duck, even Puddle the Duck made an appearance!”
Maria continued: “As a swim school we like to go above and beyond just offering swimming lessons, we educate families and young swimmers on water safety so that they are confident in their skills. Our commitment to this and our dedication to our local community resulted in us winning 1st place in the Best Small Trade Award on the day, which we were absolutely thrilled to receive!”
