TEDx is coming to St Albans for the first time on Thursday 26 October 2023 (10am-5pm).
The TEDx St Albans event will be held at the Abbey Theatre, Westminster Lodge, St Albans AL1 2DL.
The TEDx programme helps communities, organisations and individuals produce TED (technology, entertainment, design) style events – whose mission is ‘ideas worth spreading,’ – at a local level.
The TEDx St Albans organisers, Amy Burnett, Cheryl Luzet, Patricia Seabright and Wendy Powell, are now inviting applications from speakers on the theme of ‘Connection.’
Speakers should apply here by Friday 7 April 2023 to be considered.
The second stage of speaker applications will consist of auditions (in-person or online) to be held on Friday 26 May 2023, and the organisers have outlined a specific set of criteria* they will consider when choosing speakers for the inaugural event.
TEDx St Albans co-organiser, Amy Burnett, Visible Impact said:
“TEDx is all about ideas, community and impact, all things which I believe the population of St Albans feels passionately about. It’s an opportunity for local people to learn together and create positive change in their lives, along with those of others. I’m really excited that we are able to bring this event to the city, and am looking forward to our community working together to make it an amazing day.”
TEDx St Albans co-organiser, Cheryl Luzet, CEO, Wagada Digital said:
“We are excited to bring TEDx to St Albans, a vibrant city which is the home to many great minds and inspirational leaders, in what is a very accessible format of delivering talks and sparking debate that everyone can get involved in. We hope to embed this event into the St Albans calendar of yearly events to nurture and inspire local talent.”
TEDx St Albans co-organiser, Patricia Seabright, Archimedes Consulting, said:
“I have been a huge fan of TED talks for many years. They stimulate, educate, and entertain. I also believe that the ability to speak well is a master skill, vital to influence and effectiveness. The TED concept is all about ideas worth sharing and is a showcase for being able to articulate those ideas in a compelling and punchy way.
“So, I am delighted that we are able to bring this brilliant event to St Albans so that our city and district, indeed all of Hertfordshire can revel in this opportunity to engage with creative ideas and enjoy this opportunity to be part of the global TED community.”
