It has been announced today that a Faithless DJ set will be the centre point of this year’s Secret Island Festival. The festival, is located alongside the picturesque creeks and beautiful countryside of Mersea island, returns for its third incarnation on Saturday 29 July 2023.
Other acts announced include House music legends The Shapeshifters, known for their hit Lola’s Theme, as well as The Stanton Warriors and funk and disco icon Norman Jay MBE.
Meanwhile, the award-winning Rough Tempo will host the drum and bass stage with heavyweights Nicky Blackmarket and Metalheads stalwart Dillinja as well as DJ Rap.
This year’s festival will see the capacity increased with a 10% of tickets going to key worker for free thanks to the festival’s new tie-up with Tickets for Good.
With many more festivalgoers comes much more entertainment, as Secret Island Festival grows to five stages with performers playing every type of electronic music, as well as live bands being introduced for the first time.
This year’s festival will also see more non-music related entertainment, with many more food stalls, shops and, for the first time a big wheel!
Secret Island Festival is also doing its bit for the environment by providing shuttles buses from local transport hubs as well as multitude of bike racks for the healthy raver.
Commenting on today’s announcements, Matt Prevett, who is part of the Ultrafunkula collective that organises Secret Island Festival, said:
“This year’s festival is going to be the biggest yet. Bringing you music and arts on our very special island location. As well as bringing you some of the biggest names in dance music we blend it with supporting many new and local artists.”
