Tiptree couple, Andrew and Kathleen Brown (86 and 83) have been reunited thanks to a new home care service that enabled him to leave residential care.
ECL’s new private pay service, ECL Care Solutions was able to provide the level of support Andrew needed at home, something which could previously only be provided by a nursing home.
Andrew’s wife, Kathleen said: “I tried many care agencies, but they couldn’t offer the level of at home care that Andrew needed. We were left with no choice but to go down the residential care route. The home was great, but it wasn’t right for him – it was a home, but it wasn’t his home. We had previously had care from ECL when Andrew was discharged from hospital, so I got back in touch to see if they could help. We were fortunate that they were just trialing their private pay option, ECL Care Solutions, who said they could do it. I was delighted because it meant that at long last he could come home. They’ve been an absolute godsend.”
Andrew was diagnosed with cancer Sarcoma in 2021. After chemotherapy and eventually an operation to remove the tumour in 2022, Andrew was recovering. Sadly, he developed septicaemia in the wound and was again admitted to hospital. When he was discharged, Kathleen had no choice but to put him in a nursing home as he required a level of care that couldn’t be supported at home by care agencies. The couple’s simple wish was to be together in the family home they had shared for over fifty years and ECL Care Solutions was able to make this wish come true.
