On Monday 13th February, the oldest established eel and pie house family F. Cooke will launch their Cookes kids pie making classes. Children aged 5+ will be able to take part in the 90-minute workshop in the Chelmsford restaurant for just £12.
During the workshop, children will be taught step by step how to make the authentic pies with a recipe dating back years. Whether it’s a traditional mince beef, vegan soya mince or sweet fruit pie, your child will be able to choose their filling and make it with the same technique that’s been passed down from generation to generation, now in the hands of 5th generation Robert Cooke. The finishing touch will be when the children get to personalise their pies with their names, before being cooked in the original oven from Cookes on Broadway Market. Once served, they’ll get to add Cookes signature mash and enjoy their very own pie and mash.
Robert Cooke says:
“Our legacy is built on families bringing in new generations and we are pleased to see so many children enjoying our pie and mash. We’re delighted to launch our pie making workshop to make it fun for children and even as an introduction for some if they have never tried it before. It’s a win win as the parents get to stay and enjoy a pie and mash too.”
F. Cooke was first established in 1862 by Robert Cooke in East London. After opening eel and pie houses all over London with Hackney, Dalston and Hoxton just to name a few; in 2019, F.
