Taylor Wimpey has helped a Burnham-on-Crouch primary school kit out a classroom for an unusually large number of new starters this year.

St Mary’s Church of England Primary School had an extra 23 pupils join in Reception in September, and needed a range of new items for the pupils to use.

The school is a one-minute drive from Taylor Wimpey’s Emberton Grange development and the housebuilder offered to help out by covering the £2,250 cost of the new equipment, which included various essential items such as a chalkboard, furniture, bicycles, toys and workshop tools.

The school received the items last month and a member of the Emberton Grange sales team recently paid a visit to meet the new pupils.

Amanda Westley, class teacher of St Mary’s School, said: “With an unexpected increase in the number of admissions this year, we are really grateful to Taylor Wimpey for making this donation as it proved to be a massive help towards the funding of new equipment. Improving the resources available to our students will not only help with their education but will also initiate creative thinking as well as problem-solving abilities amongst them”

Alex Greaves, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey London, said: “It’s always a pleasure to support the communities close to where we build. We are so thrilled to be able to contribute towards the school’s resources as it will not only help with the children’s education and development but will also provide them with much-needed enjoyment.”

Taylor Wimpey’s donation to St Mary’s School is one of the many contributions being made by the housebuilder towards community facilities and infrastructure in the wider area.
