Children at St Mary’s Kindergarten, Lower School and Senior School fully embraced Children in Need 2022 on Friday 18 November, raising in excess of £1,000 to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the UK.
The Lower School in Copford, Colchester had a spotty non-uniform day and held their annual Pudsey Bear Raffle, giving the girls the chance to win one of 46 handmade Pudseys.

A competition to design a Pudsey onesie and a Children in Need quiz was launched within the School Houses which are all named after historic gates of Colchester – Abbeygate, Balkernegate, Headgate and Scheregate. Students competed against one another to gain house points, with the St Mary’s House Cup firmly in their sights for the end of the academic year.
Mrs Nicola Griffiths, Principal of St Mary’s said “Pupils at St Mary’s are keen to be involved in their communities and to give their support to charities. Children in Need is just one of many charity-led events that St Mary’s School participates in. Several thousands of pounds in donations are raised every year by St Mary’s families. Fundraising activities are student-led, by the girls who are members of the Charities Committee at the Lower School and by a range of student leaders at the Senior School, including the House Officials, Round Square Committee and Miss Comrie Scholars”.
