Southend Bach Choir has announced their annual Christmas Carol Concert in aid of HARP, Southend’s leading homelessness charity.
Taking place on Saturday 17th December from 7:00pm, visitors will enjoy a selection of traditional carols in the stunning surroundings of the church. This year, the concert will be held at St Andrew’s Church, Westcliff-on-Sea.
Entry is free of charge, and the choir are asking for voluntary donations to be made on the night to HARP. In 2019, the last time the event was held due to the pandemic, the event raised an amazing £2,131 to help local people take steps towards overcoming homelessness.
Deputy Mayor, Cllr Stephen Habermel and Deputy Mayoress will be attending the event.
Chair of Southend Bach Choir, Chris Dandridge, said “After a two-year absence due to COVID it is so good to be back once more enjoying our singing. We are delighted to announce the return of our Christmas carol concert and being able to support this excellent cause.”
Stephen Mansfield, HARP’s Director of Fundraising & Communications, said: “We are so grateful to Southend Bach Choir for once again selecting HARP as their chosen charity for their Christmas concert, as well as everyone who attends and donates at this special event. We’ve really missed this event over the last couple of years so it’s great to have it back on the festive calendar. We really couldn’t do what we do without the support of the local community.”
HARP helps around 1,000 people who are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless every year in Southend. The charity aims to provide the support and accommodation that are necessary to help local people overcome homelessness for good.
