THE mother of Love Island star Antigoni Buxton has told how she refused to tell her dad she was starring on the ITV show.
Speaking on GB News today Tonia Buxton admitted to Bev Turner that it had been a difficult decision for the family to make when ITV approached Antigoni, 26.
She said: “It was a huge decision as a family…we didn’t tell her dad; we wouldn’t tell anyone. We just thought okay, let’s do this and see how we go.
“We had a spotlight put on us when Antigoni was on Love Island. My husband loved it because he was the hot dad. But my boys did not like it at all. But he was the hot daddy, he loved it.
“I know my child and I know the way she’s brought up and what she’s like. She was a good girl, because she is a good girl.
“We decided together that she should do it. You know, she’s a musician, if she’d found love there, if someone gorgeous had walked in for her, that would be great, but it didn’t. What it did give her is a platform for her music.”
Tonia also hit out at “vile” Matt Hancock’s decision to appear on I’m A Celebrity saying it would have a massive impact on his estranged wife, Martha.
She said: “And I don’t know how Martha [Hancock] is going to deal with it because she has had so much awfulness just wreaked upon herself because of this stupid, idiotic man.
“He is the person that has blood on his hands, okay?
“There are no words. The man is vile, he’s moronic, he’s stupid. He has no self-awareness. He has no understanding of how hated and despised he is for what he did to us during lockdown.
“He is the most despicable vile man…he has no sense of awareness, and he should not be there, and he should be sacked from politics and never be allowed in again.”
She added: “He has no sense of how despised he is. There’s absolutely no sense of self-awareness. The public despise him.”
