PEOPLE’S country of origin will not be published in future censuses, the Office of National Statistics has confirmed.
A question about where a person was born will also not be asked in the next census, the ONS has told the Nigel Farage show on GB News.
Nigel Farage said: “The Office of National Statistics today gave us the updated census figures, they show very big and very rapid changes in England and Wales in our population. And indeed, in our beliefs.
“Only 46% of England and Wales identify as Christian Christians are now in a minority, something that would have been completely unthinkable just 20 or 30 years ago. In terms of demography itself, London is now 37%. white, Birmingham is 43%,white, Manchester is 49% white.
“The three biggest cities in England and Wales are now white minority cities, again, that is a massive, massive, rapid change. And one in six Britons are now born overseas, that’s up from one in eight, just in the space of a few years. So immigration is clearly fundamentally changing the makeup and nature of the country.”
He added: “The ONS have announced they are changing the rules. I’ve had it confirmed by the ONS themselves, that in future, the next time these figures come out, they will not publish, they will not ask the question of where people were born.
“They want to hide the truth from you, I was shocked to find that out. But the real heart of my discussion is ‘are we losing our identity? Does it matter?’
“Well, I think it does matter because frankly, everything that Western civilisation was built on was a Judeo-Christian culture, the ten commandments, in a sense, being the fundamental basis for all of our laws, our Constitution, and that we were built and founded as a Christian country.
He said on the Farage show on GB News: “Now it doesn’t mean anyone’s forced to say they’re Christian, but to see this drop in just ten years, from 59% of the population to 46%. That is a very dramatic fall. What’s it down to?
“Well, I have to say, I believe personally, that it is a fundamental weakness in the leadership, especially of the Church of England. It’s almost as if, right throughout the Church of England, they’re almost embarrassed by their faith. It’s as if they’re hiding under the covers.
“They don’t want to discuss these things, even in schools, which call themselves Church of England schools. There is now a lack of morning assembly, a lack of prayers, a lack of fundamental teaching.
“And I think, you know, children should actually have those things and they can choose when they’re older, to accept or reject those ideas.
“This is part I think of the failure of the institutions of this country. I think our politics is failing us but the church in particular is failing us.”
