The final call for applications has gone out from one of the biggest contemporary art fairs outside of London – which is set to return to Norwich this December.
Art Fair East is inviting artists, galleries and art dealers to be part of the event which will take place at St Andrew’s Hall in the city.
This standout event in the region’s cultural calendar is already set to be the key event for art buyers in the Eastern Region during the run up to Christmas.
Artworks will be gathered from across the world, alongside a raft of regional talent and this year’s fair – which has previously brought signed editions by Banksy and other famous artists to the region – will host a line-up of new and returning artists.
Art Fair East was founded in 2015 by leading Norfolk-based artists Will Teather and Brian Korteling. The pair are passionate about bringing contemporary art to the area, increasing interest in the visual arts, and supporting artists.
Will Teather, who will be exhibiting at the fair following his one-man exhibition at the Royal Exchange in London this summer, said: “The fair provides a unique opportunity in the Eastern Region to see a cross section of the art world collected under one roof.
“There will be both local and international talent on show, with many artists and experts there in person to talk to the public. This year sees a return of more international exhibitors post-pandemic including Nandini Sharma from India with her distinctive scenes of Indian life.
“It is of course a perfect opportunity to buy work, with over 1,000 artworks available over the weekend. The choice on offer ranges from upcoming artists to investment-grade artworks which have previously included famous names such as Banksy- there are few events like this outside of London.
“It is a great opportunity to support artists, find the perfect piece for your wall and, if you’re lucky, pick up some thing by the next big thing.
“I will be bringing many new works, made especially to show at Art Fair East. I’ve spent the summer working with theatre groups and circus performers to create new magical-realist compositions. The new paintings that have emerged from these collaborations are as theatrical as they are surreal.”
