St Mary’s Colchester has been selected as a finalist for the Independent Schools of the Year 2022 Awards!
The school’s commitment to eco initiatives, has been recognised by their successful entry in the Green Award for Environmental Achievement category for the Independent Schools of the Year 2022.
St Mary’s Principal, Mrs Nicola Griffiths said “I am thrilled that St Mary’s has been selected as a finalist for the Independent Schools of the Year 2022 Awards! Our Eco Teams at the Lower School and Senior School, along with our Eco-Schools Co-ordinators are continually driving forwards innovative activities and initiatives, such as gardening clubs and competitions and even upcycling for art projects and the annual ‘Trashion’ Show. It is wonderful to know that the hard work of the Lower School and Senior School pupils and staff has been formalised recognised.”
St Mary’s School is an Eco School and is one of only five schools in the UK to achieve national Eco-Schools Ambassador status. The school has been awarded eight Green Flags to recognise the commitment shown to creating a sustainable environment in which to educate future generations.
The winners of each category, plus the overall Independent School of the Year, will be announced at the Independent Schools of the Year 2022 awards ceremony being held on Tuesday 11 October.
