Marjorie Fordham, resident at Hutton Village Bupa Care Home in Essex, has recently celebrated her milestone 100th birthday amongst family and friends.
Celebrations were organised by Senior Activity Co-ordinator, Angie Bear, with Marjorie marking the occasion with her nearest and dearest alongside care home staff and residents.
Complete with an afternoon tea, Marjorie was serenaded by local entertainer, Tracy Lea, and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
When asked about her birthday, Marjorie commented: “I had a lovely day celebrating. I was made to feel very special. The cake was absolutely divine – my grandchildren couldn’t get enough – and what truly topped off my day was a lovely glass of sherry! I still can’t quite believe I am 100 years old!”
Sue Green, Home Manager, commented: “We had a great time celebrating Marjorie’s birthday, it was a beautiful day enjoyed by everyone who came along. Celebrating birthdays is so important to us at Hutton Village, so being able to give Marjorie the birthday celebration she deserved was so very special.”
Prior to her time at Hutton Village Bupa Care Home, Marjorie worked as a teacher in a day centre for adults with physical disabilities at a Badger House in Basildon while enjoying a happy marriage of 67 years to her late husband, John. Together they have three daughters and two grandchildren, and she enjoys spending as much time as possible with them.
A resident at Hutton Village since February 2021, Marjorie enjoys taking part in entertainment activities such as performance night, where residents are serenaded by a variety of singers from the local area.
