Braintree District Council is looking for a community group or organisation to take on the proposed new multi-use community centre in Witham.
Organisations interested in taking on and operating the community centre are being invited to register their interest.
Councillors approved the £4 million budget needed to build the two storey building at an official meeting just over a month ago.
The centre’s plans include a mixed-use hall, kitchen, bar area and changing rooms to serve sports players using the adjacent football pitch.
Interested parties must have experience of managing community services and ensure that they are accessible to the community.
The centre will be built on land next to Haygreen Road, just behind the Aldi supermarket off of Hatfield Road.
If plans move forward as expected, building work will finish in March 2024.
Organisations should email [email protected] to register their interest. Application window closes on Friday, 2 September 2022 at 12.00 noon.
Cllr Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Communities at Braintree District Council, said: “We are looking for an organisation with the right experience who can maintain and manage the centre in a way which will benefit the local community. Organisations interested in registering their interest should ask for an application form as soon as they can.”
