Direct Line is launching a giant dunk machine on the River Thames this summer, where friends can compete for a chance to win a luxury holiday gift card worth £5,000. The ‘backup you need’ is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, taller than a double-decker bus, taking place on 30th August.
Located at the Millwall Docklands in London and open from 14:00 – 19:00, participants will be asked questions designed to put their friendship to the test, to establish whether their mates truly are the ‘backup they need’.
The questions, asked by one friend (on the shore) and answered by the other person (dangling from a winch), will determine how high or low they go.
The participating pair with the most correct answers will win the prize of a TUI gift card worth £5,000. In the event of a tie between two or more of the participating pairs, (e.g where two or more pairs each get four questions right and no one gets all five) those pairs of participants will be entered into a prize draw (one entry per successful pair) for a chance to win the prize. No purchase necessary.
Successful participants will be asked if they’d like to be dunked into The River Thames after successfully answering all five questions or lowered back down into the boat to travel back to shore. Participants who get any of the five questions incorrect will be asked if they agree to be dunked into the River Thames prior to them being hoisted onto the machine or lowered back down. There will be a professional lifeguard on hand to whisk them from the Thames, armed with all the safety equipment needed!

The experience is free to book by securing a ticket through Eventbrite [LINK], on a first come first served basis, taking place at the Millwall Docklands in London (Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre, 235A Westferry Rd, E14 3QS) between 14:00 – 19:00. Participants need to be over 18 and UK residents.
