Following on from Fun For Fingers, Anna Bruder has designed eight more finger games, this time with a sporting theme.
Finger Sports includes a range of different games like boules, horse racing and wrestling, alongside favourites such as football and athletics. Also included are finger puppets to use whilst playing the various games, adding an extra layer of fun.
Whilst this activity book is designed for children to enjoy playing with, it is also a great way for them to develop key skills, including concentration, recognition of colour and shape, fine motor skills and hand-eye-co-ordination as well as enhancing their creativity by encouraging them to make up their own finger sports games.
Able to be played alone or with friends and family, these activities are a great alternative to screen-based entertainment, particularly important as the school summer holidays arrive.
Author, Anna Bruder, says, ‘For many years I have been enthusiastic about encouragingplay, at home, in schools and in our public life, I believe everyone has the right to play. This book is important for that reason. Not only does it encourage children and their families to play together it also works to improve fine motor skills helping children strengthen their fingers for daily life. Finger Sports also works towards improving concentration, co-ordination and independence while bringing a new found joy to the act of reading.’
Publishing on 20 September 2022, Finger Sports is available to bookshops now for the start of the Commonwealth Games.
