For the launch of MyMcDonald’s Rewards, the brand’s first ever rewards scheme, reality TV star Chris Hughes rewarded McDonald’s fans in Cardiff today with thousands of free points, exclusive merch and frozen McFlurry treats to help people cool off in the sunshine.
To celebrate the launch of MyMcDonald’s Rewards, available exclusively on the McDonald’s App from today, McDonald’s has teamed up with TV presenter Rylan to lead the ultimate ‘Rewards Squad’ featuring a star-studded cast of celebrities to embark on a tour of the UK, bringing a series of surprising moments to customers across the nation.
The tour kicked off in Manchester with an exclusive gig by superstar grime artist Aitch on 19th July and today, the Rewards Squad headed to Cardiff with Chris Hughes who was on hand to surprise McDonald’s customers in the city.
Chris jumped in the McFlurry van to dish out frozen treats to keep people cool, as well as handing out limited-edition McDonald’s merch including bucket hats, cross body bags and branded water bottles, and gave out thousands of points to fans, allowing them to kickstart their Rewards experience. It was great to have Chris Hughes here to help us launch it, my team from the Queen Street restaurant were delighted to chat to him and give out so much merch!
“We also love that people can choose to donate their points to one of three amazing charity partners, enabling our customers to give back to the communities we serve is so important and we know many local families will benefit from the points donated in this region.”
Regional Rewards for everyone

As part of the tour, McDonald’s is giving away a massive 5 million Rewards points to customers, crew and their charity partners including BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House Charities. At every location, customers can expect to be delighted by the Rewards Squad with points that they can add to their MyMcDonald’s Rewards account on the McDonald’s App and redeem against their favourite menu items or convert to a cash equivalent charity donation.
The all-star MyMcDonald’s Reward Squad will continue to surprise and delight customers throughout the rest of the week as the tour continues to gain momentum across the UK.
The McFlurry van will also be heading on the tour with complimentary servings of the brand’s iconic McFlurry and limited-edition merchandise from bucket hats to cross body bags and water bottles available at every location.
Next up it’s London (Sunday 24th July) with YouTube sensation Yung Filly challenging MyMcDonald’s Rewards customers to an epic gaming experience on Sunday 24th July.
The final leg of the tour will culminate in Birmingham on Thursday 28th July where social media star LadBaby will be giving lucky fans the ultimate Drive-Thru experience.
How MyMcDonald’s Rewards works
Customers will earn 100 points for every £1 they spend, with every penny spent equating to 1 point, and there are some amazing rewards available for customers to treat themselves to.
There is also an option to donate the cash equivalent of their points to BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House Charities, to support the company’s commitment to funding and supporting youth work, alongside reducing food poverty and waste in the UK.
