19 teams from local businesses and community groups are on their way to raising thousands of pounds for St Helena Hospice, as the annual Birkett Long £50 Challenge gets underway.
At the launch event at St Helena Hospice’s fundraising office last week, each team was given £50, kindly donated by Birkett Long solicitors. The teams now have 10 weeks, until 16th July, to invest, grow and nurture their £50 into as much money as possible for the charity which help local people in north east Essex face incurable illness and bereavement.
St Helena Hospice supporter engagement fundraiser Jo Clarke said: “We’re thrilled to have so many great teams signed up to the challenge this year, and we’re really excited by all the things they are coming up with! We already have a golf day, a wine tasting, and a car wash in the calendar and we can’t wait to see what else the teams do with their £50!”
Katie Robertson, marketing coordinator at Birkett Long, said: “We are delighted to be given the opportunity to sponsor the £50 Challenge again this year. Birkett Long is here for good and 200 years’ experience has taught us it’s not just about knowing the law; it’s also about the impact we have on our communities. We have a long standing relationship with St Helena Hospice who really reflect our own values as a business, and are excited that community groups as well as local businesses are encouraged to take part in the challenge this year. We would like to wish everyone who takes part the best of luck.”
The businesses and groups taking part this year are: Aston Lark, Boydens, Codair Design & Publicity Ltd, Essex Knitters and Stitchers, Fenwick, The Friar Pub, Harris + Hoole, Horizon Construction Group, Informa, Later Life Lending Solutions, MHA MacIntyre Hudson, Mr O Removals, Nationwide Building Society’s Colchester and Clacton branches, Perfect for Learning, The Peldon Plough, Reeman Dansie, Signace and Your Claim.
