Braintree District Council has launched a competition to encourage people to get on their bikes and explore cycle routes throughout the district.
Residents are being asked to get out their bikes and cycle routes throughout the district to see the best the area has to offer.
The Council has published family friendly cycle routes to suit families with children under the age of 10 and over the age of 10, as well as heritage trails that take in great tourism spots throughout the Braintree District.
The maps are available on the Visit Braintree District website and as GPX files (suitable for GPS units), printed versions are also being distributed throughout the district.
To win one of three £50 local cycle shop vouchers, residents should submit a picture of their ride on social media tagging #CycleBraintreeDistrict along with the cycle route number they are on.
Pictures from residents will be shared across Braintree District Council social media and at the end of the summer, the pictures will be judged by a panel and three winners will be chosen.
Cllr Frankie Ricci, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “As summer approaches and the school holidays ahead of us, it is a great opportunity to see more of the district by bike. There are some fantastic cycle routes throughout the district and so many beautiful rural spots to see. Why not try out one of these routes and share what you see to inspire others!”
The competition launches Wednesday 4th May and closes 31st August, winners will be contacted by official Braintree District Council social media accounts only. Cycle routes can be found at https://www.visitbraintreedistrict.co.uk/explore/countryside/cycling
