A FORMER friend of the Duchess of Sussex has said that she was determined to star in the reality TV series Made In Chelsea when she first came to the UK.
Socialite Lizzie Cundy said that she befriended Meghan at a social gathering at the suggestion of host John Caudwell, the billionaire founder of mobile phone retailer Phones 4u.
Lizzie told GB News: “We have seen Meghan Markle, usually whinging and moaning about the press, taking them to court but we forget when she first arrived on the scene, everyone welcomed her with open arms.
“The press was so good about her but also with Kate, it was incredible…
She said: “I was at a charity event with John Caldwell and he said ‘look, can you sit next to this girl? She’s flown in from Canada’.
“I wanted to be with my mates, I was like, no, I’m gonna sit with my friends and have a giggle, he was like ‘no look after her’.
“But actually we got on really, really well and we did have a huge giggle and she wanted to find an English boyfriend, so I said I can help you.
Lizzie told GB News host Nigel Farage that she looked at her contacts and initially suggested meeting footballer Ashley Cole.
“So I was going through my phone and there was Ashley Cole, the Chelsea footballer,” she said. “I was trying but it was quite funny but she did want to have an English boyfriend.
“She loved being here in London, so she wanted to work here, she actually wanted to be in Made in Chelsea, the show.”
She added that Meghan dropped her as a friend after meeting Prince Harry: “She ghosted me…when she got with the prince, that’s when it all happened.
“She cut off a lot of people…”
