CAMBRIDGESHIRE DEVELOPER KEEPS THE ENVIRONMENT IN MIND WITH SUSTAINABLE PROPERTIES

Leading housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes is setting out to help the planet with sustainable features in properties across Cambridgeshire.

At a time when energy bills are rising dramatically, having a home with sustainable features is important to keep living costs low as well as having a positive impact on the environment.

According to Home Builders Federation, a new build property is 65% more energy efficient and roughly 50% cheaper to run per year than a Victorian house of the same style.

The reason behind new build homes being cheaper and greener is due to features such as double glazed windows and doors, efficient boilers, quality insulation and water saving systems.

David Wilson Homes’ Trumpington Meadows on Hauxton Road in Trumpington boasts a number of sustainable elements including 100% low energy LED lighting throughout all properties.

As well as this, a proportion of homes at the development will also feature PV panels which will allow for less energy to be used from the national grid and at some points, even transferred back to the grid by the homeowners.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes has also considered sustainability at their Darwin Green development on Huntingdon Road by offering residents personalised travel plans, travel vouchers, cycle training and free bike hire to support greener methods of transport.

Properties at Barratt Homes’ Romans’ Edge development in Godmanchester can save residents up to 30 litres of water a day per person through having the latest energy and water efficient kitchen appliances and bathroom fittings and fixtures.

Will Phair, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We are delighted to be delivering properties with sustainability in mind to homebuyers across Cambridgeshire, as we feel it is important to do our bit for the environment.

“As the UK’s largest housebuilder, it is our responsibility to ensure we are helping the environment and our homes across the county will hopefully encourage residents to also get involved and be environmentally friendly.
