For the second year running, 17&Central is working with the Walthamstow branch of the Salvation Army to make Christmas extra special for families in need. The shopping centre has offered its Grotto as a drop-off point for the organisation’s Christmas Toy Appeal, which will be running throughout December.
The Salvation Army works with agencies and charities throughout the year to support families in crisis. In the run-up to Christmas, it collects new, unused toys and gifts to distribute locally to children of all ages.
“We were delighted to partner with the Salvation Army on its 2020 Christmas Toy Appeal and wanted to offer our services again this year. We would like to encourage guests to buy just one extra gift this year while they are out doing their Christmas shopping at 17&Central. Presents should be brand new and unwrapped but don’t necessarily need to be toys. Many of those in need are teenagers so items of clothing, toiletries, age-appropriate books and gift vouchers would also be appreciated.”
Julie Pell, Co Leader of the Walthamstow Salvation Army added: “We believe that every child deserves a present and we are very grateful to be partnering with 17&Central again to help bring a little hope and joy to families in need this Christmas.”
All donations should be dropped at Santa’s Grotto, next to Boots by 19 December. For more information visit the 17&Central website at www.17andcentral.co.uk
