The community arts project that champions local talents’ work is launching its ‘City Winterscapes’ exhibition on Friday 10 December in St Albans City Centre- with an exclusive meet and greet with the featured and universally loved artist, Alan Rogers.
The winter-timed exhibition will complement the hugely successful ‘City Summerscapes’ and includes 10 chosen pieces including the artists’ statement, being displayed on A1 size foamex weatherproof boards on parklets in the City Centre.
The special solo-exhibition with world-renowned artist, Alan Rogers, whose cut-out animated films gave him fame with Pigeon Street, Bod, Rub-a-Dub-Dub, Rosie & Jim, Bonny, Banana & Mo and many more, aims to bring joy and create vibrancy and colour in the City Centre over the coming winter months.
An informal meet and greet event will take place on Friday 10 December at 3pm at The Clock Tower and will give locals and visitors the chance to talk to Alan about his chosen artworks and to find out more about his motivation and creative inspiration.
Combining his animation enthusiasm with skills gained working as an illustrator and photographer, Alan now creates ‘digital collages’ where he combines his drawings and photographs to create obscure and imagined scenes.

Run by St Albans BID, the ongoing community arts project supports local St Albans artists by exhibiting their artwork in outside spaces where they can be seen and enjoyed by the public.
Chris Blanch, project lead at St Albans BID, says: “Supporting local artists and showcasing amazing artwork in our city centre not only keeps our streets vibrant in these dark wintery times but also delivers a feel-good factor to visitors and shoppers alike.
“The idea with the project is to make art inclusive and accessible to all, so people can see magnificent artworks whilst out shopping, walking to and from work or sitting and having coffee- it’s out of the blue and certainly a good conversation starter.
“We are thrilled to be working with Alan Rogers for this special exhibition. Not only is he a local artist, he is known across the globe for his incredibly imagined artwork that is a unique style of its own.”
City Winterscapes, the second of the pop-up public art exhibitions, runs in St Albans City Centre until 28th February 2022.
