First Essex Bus was right on time to provide fundraising Father Christmases with a much-needed boost during the Santa Fun Run in Colchester’s Castle Park, organised by the Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity.
On Sunday, December 5, Santas from far and wide took part in the 5k and 3k route races, with close to 300 runners, walkers and waddlers of all ages taking part in the event, including a team of First Essex Bus drivers and staff members, raising valuable donations for this worthwhile cause. And there is still time to make a contribution. Visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/first-santa to make a donation.
To support the racers, a special ‘Santa Bus’ was positioned in Castle Park, liveried with a jolly Father Christmas on the side, being pulled in his sleigh by his famous reindeer. Santas taking part in the fun run enjoyed the chance to have their picture taken with the Santa Bus, while chocolates and hot drinks were on hand to boost morale and energy levels.
Sheena Karim, Marketing Manager for First Essex Bus, commented: “The event was a huge success and it was a fantastic morning of fun and fundraising. All the Santas were waving at the bus as they passed it on the routes around the park and a warming cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate was certainly very welcome at the end of the run. It was a great team effort by the First Essex Bus runners, and a great privilege to play a part in supporting this fabulous cause and help raise funds for the Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity.”
