A charity that collects donations of new pyjamas for children then donates them to hospitals and hospices at Christmas has received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes.
Children’s Hospital Pyjamas successfully applied for the money through Persimmon’s Community Champions, a funding scheme that every month hands out two awards of up to £1,000.
Rachael Lawrence, from Children’s Hospital Pyjamas, said: “Thank you so much Persimmon, we are over the moon. This will help so much with this year’s appeal as donations are very low compared to previous years.”
The charity collects donations of pyjamas from the public which they then donate to hospitals, hospices, school hospital teams and women’s refuges up and down the country.
Rachael added: “No child wants to be in a hospital, especially at Christmas, but if they have to be they don’t want to be wearing a hospital gown. All children who are inpatients in our registered establishments, for whatever reason, will be gifted a brand new pair of comfy pyjamas.
“The pyjamas are donated and sent with love, so that each child who receives a pair, knows that someone is wishing them a speedy recovery and is thinking of them.”
Rachel Faulkner, sales director for Persimmon Homes North London, said: “We were really pleased to select Children’s Hospital Pyjamas as a Community Champions winner.
“Receiving something as simple as a new pair of pjs might be just the boost needed for a child having to stay in hospital over the festive period.”
