Persimmon Homes has strengthened its land and planning team with the appointment of two specialists.
Tom Rider and Rachel Caplin have joined the North London business based in Maidenhead as a Senior Land Manager and Development Planner respectively.
Their appointments signal ambitious growth plans for the region, said Land Director Lee Farmer.
He said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom and Rachel to Persimmon, who bring a wealth of experience that I know will contribute significantly to our plans for growth in the region.”
Tom graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc (Hons) in Geography with Economics, followed up with a post-grad diploma in Property Development & Planning from London South Bank University.
He has more than 14 years’ experience working within the sector, starting his career at Rydon Homes in 2007. A series of roles followed, including three years with CALA Homes and four years with Deanfield Homes. He joined Persimmon in September.
Tom said: “I’ve spent a large part of my career working for privately owned SME companies buying small and medium sized sites but have always wanted to work at scale buying large sites for a big company. House builders don’t get any bigger or more profitable than Persimmon so when the opportunity arose to join North London I jumped at the chance.”
Rachel is a qualified Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) who has a BSc (Hon) in Sociology and Economics and an MA in Gender, Globalisation and Development from City University, London as well as an MSc in Spatial Planning from UCL.
The first seven years of her planning career were spent at various local authorities in and around London working in Development Management. She then moved into the private sector four years ago, working for large, central London based Planning Consultancies. She joined Persimmon Homes in August.
Rachel said: “I’m very much looking forward to working with one of the largest volume house builders in the UK and the invaluable opportunities and experiences that will bring. I relish the chance to apply the knowledge I’ve gained from previous planning roles, as well as being involved in the complete life-cycle of a development from land purchase through to construction and beyond. This will provide much-welcomed exposure to the technical disciplines involved along the way.”
Persimmon North London recently finalised a 9.36ha land deal in Chinnor, Oxfordshire. Greenwood Place, as the development is to be called, will deliver 116 new homes with the first properties released for sale in April 2022.
