Adult community learning provider, ACL Essex has launched a new programme of courses to support Essex-based residents as furlough comes to an end. Learners can enrol on many of the courses free-of-charge, subject to eligibility criteria.*

1.6 million adults across the UK are currently furloughed; to support adults in Essex, ACL Essex has developed ‘Find Your Future’ pathways to raise awareness of the many opportunities to re-train, gain essential skills and advice, or to progress their careers.

The Find Your Future courses include crucial skill training in English, Maths or a Science, perfect for anyone missing a vital GCSE, plus Level 2 to 5 courses for adults looking to upskill in a range of sectors.

Essex residents looking to change career can also benefit. There’s a raft of Business, Management and Finance courses, ideal for those seeking a career in accountancy, project management or looking to start up their own business. There are pathways in Science, Medical, Health and Care where students can follow a range of Level 2 to 5 courses to follow a wide-range of career paths, such as a biomedical scientist, care assistant or counsellor. Those looking to turn their creative passion into a career can opt for floristry, silversmithing, photography or fashion and textiles courses. There are also options to study to become an Early Years practitioner as well as Hairdresser, Barber or Beautician. Apprenticeships are also available in a wide range of areas.

Leading ACL Essex is Katherine Burns, Principal. She says: “The last eighteen months have been tough for a lot of people. We’re here to give our residents the tools they need to build their skillset and qualifications, and offer them the chance to reboot their career.”

She continued: “Whatever your goals, you’ll discover a fantastic range of accredited courses at ACL Essex. From turning a passion into a career or business, to gaining a qualification to land your dream job or enter higher education, we can help!”

Funding is in place for residents of Essex. *Those who are unemployed or earning less than £17,004 gross salary can access all Level 2 courses free-of-charge. If you’re aged 19-23, and for those aged 24+, without a full Level 3 qualification, access to all Level 3 courses is free. Learners with a household income of less than £30,000 could receive support to help with associated learning costs e.g. course fees, books, travel, childcare, laptop and Wi-Fi.
