Ellen Mary and Michael Perry, much-loved hosts of the chart-topping podcast, the Plant Based Podcast, are set to take on a 20 mile walk across the Norfolk countryside next month to raise funds for The Feed – a Norwich based not for profit social enterprise on a mission to lift local communities out of poverty, hunger and homelessness.
Michael and Ellen will walk alongside Chris Elliot, marketing manager of The Feed, and Gordon Simpson, director of Howes Percival, on Thursday 16th September in the hopes of raising £600 for the charity.
All money raised will go directly to The Feed, which was founded in 2014 with an aim to help those who have faced unemployment, homelessness, mental health problems, and addiction, as well as a host of other hardships and barriers.
It offers individuals a 40-hour work experience opportunity to equip them with the best chance at moving into employment and other training programmes, whilst aiming to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
The team hopes to raise the amount needed to fund life-changing training for at least one individual who is facing challenging circumstances.
A cause close to both Michael and Ellen’s heart, the duo are champions of the healing power of nature and are involved in a host of local charity work throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.
Ellen Mary commented: “It’s so great to see organisations like The Feed helping to lift those in need out of poverty, and it’s even more heartwarming to see it happening in my local community! I’m delighted to be taking part in the initiative and making a small difference to the lives of those in our local area.
“The 20-mile walk will be a long and challenging one, but spending time in the great outdoors, whether gardening or walking, is therapeutic to me – and what better reason to get outside than to help support such a fantastic cause.”
