Mecca Rosehill is the oldest bingo club in the UK, having turned 60 on July 29th, and marking six whole decades of Mecca madness in UK towns and cities.

To celebrate this milestone, the club hosted a night of entertainment on Saturday 31st July, complete with live music, bingo, and a spectacular balloon drop by special guest, Martin Kemp.

On being at the event, Martin said: “With my own 60th birthday coming up in October, I know how special these milestones are, and I’m excited to be celebrating with Mecca, even getting to try my hand at bingo calling! It’s great we’ve now got opportunities to get together again and celebrate.”

Martin and club customers were able to celebrate the birthday in style thanks to the West End Jerseys, who performed a dazzling set of Four Seasons classics, followed by Take That tribute band, Take This, who ensured it was the “Greatest Day”.

With the success of the birthday event, Mecca is ensuring that post-lockdown, birthdays will be back in style. On 14th August, all Mecca clubs across the UK will host a night of Missed Birthday celebrations, complete with special prizes, birthday decorations and music, making Mecca the place to be. A Mecca survey found that birthdays topped the list of events that bingo fans missed the most during the pandemic, so the Missed Birthday event will bring back bingo, and secure Mecca as the heart of communities.*

Mecca continues to employ extensive safety measures post Freedom Day with sanitiser stations, enhanced cleaning schedules and optional mask wearing. The uniquely large and spacious bingo halls and lounges provide a safe and reassuring way to socialise and the added bonus of different session times throughout the day. A recent addition to the schedule to further support this is hourly bingo with new games starting every hour, bringing increased flexibility to the daily line up
