The Herts Jazz Festival will feature headliner gigs from the Darius Brubeck Quartet, Liane Carroll Trio, and Simon Spillett’s Big Band.
They will open the festival on the Friday night with the Darius Brubeck Quartet.
Saturday’s line-up includes “Wakey Blakey” with the Ingham-Davison Sextet, Dave Newton, Art Themen’s Sextet, Gilad Atzmon, and culminates with the superb pianist and singer Liane Carroll.
Sunday is kicked off by regular Festival performers the Herts Youth Jazz Ensemble, followed by Derek Nash’s Picante and the Nikki Iles/Stan Sulzmann Duo. We then have ex-Soft Machine guitarist John Etheridge, Winston Clifford, and finish with Simon Spillett’s 17-piece Big Band playing the music of Tubby Hayes, who famously played in Bishop’s Stortford back in 1964.
Clark Tracey, Festival Director said, “After such a difficult year which meant we had to cancel in 2020, we are so pleased to present what we know will be a thoroughly enjoyable jazz weekend. This is a great venue – feedback after the 2019 festival here was incredibly positive. As part of our efforts to attract younger jazz-lovers, we have slashed student prices – they can see this whole festival for just £30!”
