From the stages of The Apollo, Edinburgh Fringe and our favourite TV comedy panel shows to the stage of the Lounge Bar at Players Lounge, Billericay; Simon Brodkin, Tony Law, Terry Alderton, Hal Cruttenden and many more top-drawer comedians hit Comedy Lounge on the last Friday of every month for exclusive dinner and show performances!
Friday 30 July: Simon Brodkin & Tony Law
WORLD-FAMOUS PRANKSTER AND CREATOR OF THE HUGELY POPULAR LEE NELSON, SIMON BRODKIN STARS AS SPECIAL GUEST AT COMEDY LOUNGE!
In 2017, Channel 4 show Britain’s Greatest Hoaxer followed Simon as he planned and executed three huge stunts. Simon surrounded US President Donald Trump, at the opening of one of his golf courses, with 60 swastika-emblazoned golf balls, “as part of the new Trump Golfing range”.
He attached a 25-foot sign to the side of shamed former BHS owner Sir Philip Green’s £100m superyacht, renaming it the ‘BHS Destroyer’. Simon went on Britain’s Got Talent, incognito, as the ultra-orthodox Jewish rapper Steven Goldblatt (aka ‘The Rapping Rabbi’), fooling Simon Cowell and the other judges to win four ‘yeses’. It wasn’t his first run-in with Cowell. Simon had previously managed to get on to the X Factor stage during a live show, singing along “as the ninth member” of the boyband Stereo Kicks.
Simon’s stand-up show, 100% Simon Brodkin (2020), was selected by The Guardian and The Evening Standard as one of their ‘Best Comedy Shows’ at the Edinburgh Festival.
Tony’s comedy career began with him winning the New Act competition at Glastonbury Festival in 1995. A lot of Law’s earlier material featured tales of his time-travelling exploits in the company of his sausage dog, Cartridge Davison. Cartridge is the eponymous “Dog Of Time” from his Edinburgh show of the same name, and has appeared with Law on ITV’s Comedy Cuts TV show.
Friday 27 August: Terry Alderton & Hal Cruttenden with Dane Baptiste & Carl Donnelly (MC)
TERRY ALDERTON, HAL CRUTTENDEN AND GUESTS AT PLAYERS LOUNGE COMEDY LOUNGE THIS AUGUST!
Peeking inside the Technicolor mind of one of Britain’s finest comic talents and you will find him desperately doing battle with “The Voices”, two unpredictable and hilarious Voices in Terry’s Head. Though often a challenge to Terry these two different sides of his ego/conscience often lead him into unpredictable comedy routines. No two shows are ever the same!
Terry is one of the most exciting comedians around regularly performing all over the globe. He has recently worked with Joan Rivers who became an instant fan and Eddie Izzard who proclaimed him to be a ‘very funny comic with a fantastic comedy mind’, but someone who really ought to seek some sort of professional help.
