Artworks created for The Great Big Art Exhibition are going to be featuring on hundreds of digital screens in the UK’s leading malls, all thanks to a partnership with Clear Channel.
The Great Big Art Exhibition is a celebration of creativity across the UK. While the doors to our museums and galleries were shut during the winter lockdown, Firstsite invited the public to make their own artworks and use their front windows, gardens, balconies and outdoor spaces to share what they made with others.
For each fortnight of the project a new theme was announced, including Animals, Portraits, Colour, Flowers, Humour, Draw the future and Performance.
Over 5000 artworks were posted on social media during lockdown by people from all over the UK and across the world, including posts from Canada, France and Portugal and all artworks are currently appearing on a digital wall in Firstsite (until 5 September).
From 12 July until 25th July, a selection of artworks created by the public will also be appearing on hundreds of Clear Channel screens up and down the UK, from Aberdeen to Southampton.
Firstsite Director Sally Shaw MBE says: “When the doors to our collections and galleries closed our imaginations very much stayed open. Making, showing and experiencing art has created so much joy, connection and solace for many thousands of people through this difficult time – I can’t wait to see these incredible expressions of people’s creativity being shared right across the UK.”
