Dear Sir/ Madam,
Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be a traumatic and frightening experience at any time, and the coronavirus pandemic is only bringing added worry and uncertainty.
There are around 210,000 people living with cancer across London, and while during these difficult times the need for Macmillan services has increased, our income has drastically declined.
Covid-19 has been a particularly difficult time for many people with cancer in London with thousands of people missing a cancer diagnosis due to the disruption caused by the pandemic.
The consequences are impossible to ignore and the pandemic has really limited the ways people can fundraise for charities like ours.
That is why we’ve been truly amazed and humbled by the creative ways people have continued to fundraise for Macmillan in a bid to ensure we can continue to be there for Londoners affected by cancer.
From garden marathons, 26-hour rowing and table tennis challenges, to social distanced bake sales – the incredible determination of our supporters in London has been truly inspiring.
We want to let all our fundraisers know that your efforts and generosity are appreciated more than we could ever express in words, and every penny really does make such a difference to those whose lives have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
Together, we can continue to do whatever it takes to be there for those living with cancer like funding our Cancer Information Nurse Specialist team, which costs around £138,000 monthly. They respond to thousands of calls to our Macmillan Support Line from people who are worried about cancer, need urgent information and support, and may not have anywhere else to turn to for help.
At this time your support has never mattered more, to find out more about fundraising and how you can get involved, please visit: https://www.macmillan.org.uk/get-involved/all-ways-to-help.html
