Cassia have shared a new song & video today from their ongoing Steam Room sessions. Following the earlier release of ‘Do Right (Live From The Steam Room)’, this time they’ve taken on a cover of Arlo Parks’ hit ‘Hurt’. Cassia have put their signature uplifting spin on the tune and paired it with an intimate & serene performance.
When asked why they chose this particular song; “This song really felt fitting to us, as after having toured and driven endless miles last year, we were starting to lose perspective coming into December 2019. We didn’t quite know where we stood and what we were worth without playing live. The song ‘Hurt’ for us describes how constant change can cloud a persons judgement and how easily you can slip back into feeling lost. This year really allowed us the time and space to define who we are as people and as musicians.”
Cassia have toured relentlessly across the UK, US& Europe having spent much of the last three years on the road. You’d routinely find them crammed in the van, touring from city-to-city and often spending 17 hours crossing the continent en route to the next gig. The reward was that they earned a following that ignited their streaming stats and wider media profile.
While the band have not been able to perform for most of this year they’ve shown how much they’ve developed in sound and in their craft as songwriters with their releases this year, presenting challenging themes and personal struggles in totally unique ways. Receiving building support from tastemaker DJs such as Annie Mac and Jack Saunders this year, their last single ‘Don’t Make A Scene’ premiered in the coveted Hottest Record slot on the Radio 1 Annie Mac Powerdown Playlist show and showcased their ability to write songs with irresistible hooks & uplifting lyricisms.
Cassia’s sold-out shows have included The Scala in London and a homecoming show at Manchester’s Ritz. Last year, the band played 35 packed festival dates including the Radio 1 Stage at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, All Points East, Truck Festival, Y Not, TRNSMT, Kendal Calling, Electric Picnic and SXSW. Those life-affirming shows resulted in them earning a nomination for Best Live Act at the AIM Awards alongside IDLES and DMA’S.
Cassiapromise to start “the biggest party ever” when they’re able to make a long-awaited return to touring. They’re scheduled to play the following dates in April, and plan to embark upon a more comprehensive tour later in 2021.
