Chelmsford-based commercial insurance broker, Ascend Broking, is marking the season of goodwill by launching a search for local charities to support in the year ahead.
Its search for good causes follows the launch of its own specialist charity division, headed up by Stuart Belbin, which provides broking insight to organisations within the charity sector and their trustees.
It also builds on Ascend Broking’s practice of supporting specific charities within the Chelmsford and wider Essex areas each year, as well as other institutions, clubs and organisations that matter to its customers.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on businesses and the sporting calendar, Ascend has continued to support Chelmsford Town FC and Essex County Cricket Club and also sponsored Essex cricketer, Paul Walter, this year. It is also a sponsor of Chelmsford Hospital Radio.
In previous years, it has carried out fundraising for local charities such as the Little Belsteads RDA, which was part of the Riding for the Disabled Association’s network and supported charities such as Chess Homeless, through adventurous and strenuous fundraising activities conducted by members of its insurance brokerage team.
Ascend wishes to reach into the heart of the community through the charities it will support in 2021 and wishes to hear why those nominating a charity believe it plays such an important role in local lives.
Managing director of Ascend Broking, Matthew Collins, says, “We know how hard-hit charities have been during the pandemic and are expecting a big response to our search for charities to support. We cannot support everything, so want to hear the story behind the charity and its particular relevance locally. This is about charities on our doorstep, or branches of national charities that have particular importance to Chelmsford or Essex. We are a local broker, operating at the heart of our community and we want to make sure we give something back to that community and have a positive impact on it.”
Anyone wishing to nominate a charity should get in touch with Stuart Belbin, by emailing [email protected] and name the charity they believe deserves support, stating why this charity matters locally. Applications will be accepted to the end of December 2020, when a decision on which charities to support will be made. An announcement will be made in the early New Year.
