Lockdown is easing and as we step out to enjoy summer, it’s safe to say we’re all in need of a little luxury. Hertfordshire country house hotel, Down Hall, will reopen on 21st August offering lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and cocktails on its terrace as well as teatime boxes to-go and is ready to welcome back all its lovely locals with a grand reopening al fresco event on 31st August.
Dining in style for the summer
After much anticipation, customers will finally be able to dine at Down Hall, either inside at The Grill Room restaurant and Ibbetson’s Tea Lounge, or outside on the beautiful terraces and gardens with the pre-packed picnic hampers and launch of the premium teatime boxes.
Created by Executive Chef, Chris Jones, all menus celebrate the best in British produce with ingredients sourced from the hotel’s own vegetable gardens and the local area. Opt for an informal affair at The Grill Room or, during the warmer weather, the hotel will be opening up their beautiful grounds to create additional dining space for special occasions at a safe distance. Lunch, afternoon tea and dinner will be served from the Terrace menu for hotel guests and locals looking for a taste of luxury on their doorstep. Dine on a selection of modern English dishes such as “G&T cured trout with grapefruit, rainbow radishes & pickled apple” utilising the produce grown on site in their kitchen garden & orchard.
The new afternoon tea boxes will be available to collect or indulge in a picnic within Down Hall’s expansive grounds, bring your picnic rug and claim your spot within the 110 acres of gardens and woodlands. The boxes can be pre-ordered for safe, socially distanced collection at the reduced rate of just £17.50 per person.
Beautifully packaged to go, the teatime boxes come with delicate filled finger sandwiches, freshly baked buttermilk scones, with homemade jam and thick clotted cream and Down Hall’s daily selection of cakes and patisserie. The boxes also include a choice of delicious grown up soft drinks or, if bubbles are in order, can be packed with a bottle of fizz for £25. Boxes can be booked by calling the hotel or email [email protected].
Grand reopening
On August 31st, Down Hall will be hosting a post-lockdown party to celebrate the reopening of the hotel, complete with live music from 12-2pm . Guests can choose to dine on a specially made picnic to enjoy in the stunning gardens, a traditional afternoon tea or mark the occasion with a special BBQ menu served on the Terrace. Room’s On Us
If that isn’t enough – Down Hall will also be offering a new package for those looking for the perfect post-lockdown date night. Based on two people sharing a room for one night, the hotel is offering the “Room On Us” when guests spend £70 per person on food and beverage during their stay.
