Anna Kennedy OBE’s guest this week on Womens Radio Station is Sophie Holmes founder of Mummy of a Square Peg Blog.
Sophie is married with two children, Matthew aged 9 is the South West Under 10 cyclocross champion.
Her youngest son Edward aged 6 has a diagnosis of Autism and speech and language difficulties. He was diagnosed at the age of 3 and attends a special needs school.
Sophie is an RS Secondary School teacher in mainstream and she has been teaching for 20 years. Her passion for teaching Religious Studies comes from growing up in multi-cultural society in South West London. She moved to Devon when she was 11 years old and missed the diversity so much and she felt that people need to learn more about it.
Sophie is also a Lieutenant in the Army section of her school’s Combined Cadet Force so she loves doing things outdoors.
Sophie has been blogging for about 18 months. The aim is to raise more awareness and public understanding of the autism spectrum condition. She is trying to share positive stories of autism and how the great outdoors benefits young autistic children. My social media channels are there to offer support and advice to families going through something similar.
